The long talked about BioShock film adaptation isn’t dead yet according to an interview with Irrational Games’ creative director Ken Levine.
Irrational is currently adding the final polish to Bioshock Infinite, one of the most anticipated game releases of 2012, but despite losing two directors Levine hasn’t written off the project.
“It’s always about the stars aligning. We’re still focusing on it, but it hasn’t consumed us so much”, said Levine. Right now, we’re choosing our battles and focusing on making BioShock Infinite.”
Acclaimed horror director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo jumped ship earlier this year, saying that he wasn’t sure if the movie studio and the developer could agree. Universal reportedly wants to make the film PG-13, while 2K games and the developers, led by Ken Levine, want a darker film that is more true to the games.
“It’s hard enough to get a movie made when all the right pieces are in place. If you don’t start with the right pieces, you don’t have a prayer”, Levine added.
BioShock Infinite is currently slated for launch on October 16th for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
